COMMONWEALTH GAMES 2022: TEAM NIGERIA STARS IN THE QUADRENNIAL EVENT

August 8, 2022, saw an end to the 2022 commonwealth games held in Birmingham, England. Teams from countries like England, Australia, and India were on the pole for the podium prizes. Nigeria however, was not left out.

Team Nigeria went on to accumulate 12 gold medals, 9 silver medals, and 14 bronzes. This set the team on the 7th overall board position and 1st in terms of teams from Africa.
The Nigerian team was ably represented by the likes of record-breaking hurdles runner, Tobi Amusan, Ese Brume of the women’s long jump, and other respected athletes. Tobi Amusan and Ese Brume both went on to win in their respective niches, with record-winning performances. The women also went on to win gold in the 4Γ100 relay race while the men won the bronze medal.
From the Boxing ring to the Tennis table, to the Weightlifting ground, to the track and field, Nigeria showed her prowress as a sports nation.
