After what seems like an age-long scuffle between the Academic Staff Union of Universities(Asuu) and the Federal Government Of Nigeria, Asuu has finally suspended the strike action.
On the 14th of February, 2022, the major academic body of Nigerian Public Universities, ASUU, embarked on a strike action. According to the body, the strike is to press home their age-long demands that are not being met by the Federal Government. Since then, up until October 14, 2022, Nigerian students have been kept away from classes.

However, after a series of meetings and interventions by individuals, corporate bodies, and especially the judiciary arm of the government (court), ASUU, after 8 months, called off the strike.
According to a communique issued by the body, with the signature of the association’s president, Professor Emmanuel Osodeke, the strike action is suspended as of the 14th of October, 2022. Consequently, students can now return to classes.
